Analytical modeling of the shape memory effect in SMA beams with rectangular cross section under reversed pure bending

نویسندگان

چکیده

An analytical model is developed for a prismatic SMA beam with rectangular cross section subjected to alternating bending at temperature below the austenitic transformations. The loading path consists in loading-unloading cycle under and then reversed bending. Two opposite martensitic variants take place, whose volume fractions evolve linearly axial stress. Different Young’s moduli are taken phases. As moment increased, transformation starts from top bottom it extends inwards. If maximum applied large enough, complete Martensitic takes place upper lower parts of section. During unloading following bending, reorientation Martensite variant into one starting boundary between fully region intermediate transforming region. Special attention devoted calculate analytically stress distributions within each stage process. A closed form moment-curvature relation provided elastic integral rest approach validated by comparison results available literature.

Thin-walled beams: the case of the rectangular cross-section

In this paper we present an asymptotic analysis of the three-dimensional problem for a thin linearly elastic cantilever Ωε = ωε × (0, l) with rectangular cross-section ωε of sides ε and ε 2, as ε goes to zero. Under suitable assumptions on the given loads, we show that the threedimensional problem converges in a variational sense to the classical one-dimensional model for extension, flexure and...

Analytical Modeling for the Bending Resonant Frequency of Multilayered Microresonators with Variable Cross-Section

Multilayered microresonators commonly use sensitive coating or piezoelectric layers for detection of mass and gas. Most of these microresonators have a variable cross-section that complicates the prediction of their fundamental resonant frequency (generally of the bending mode) through conventional analytical models. In this paper, we present an analytical model to estimate the first resonant f...

Semi-analytical Approach for Free Vibration Analysis of Variable Cross-Section Beams Resting on Elastic Foundation and under Axial Force

in this paper, free vibration of an Euler-Bernoulli beam with variable cross-section resting on elastic foundation and under axial tensile force is considered. Beam’s constant height and exponentially varying width yields variable cross-section. The problem is handled for three different boundary conditions: clamped-clamped, simply supported-simply supported and clamp-free beams. First, the equ...

Two-Way Bending Properties of Shape Memory Composite with SMA and SMP

A shape memory composite (SMC) was fabricated with a shape memory alloy (SMA) and a shape memory polymer (SMP), and its two-way bending deformation and recovery force were investigated. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: (1) two kinds of SMA tapes which show the shape memory effect (SME) and superelasticity (SE) were heat-treated to memorize the round shape. The shape-memorized ...
